Mirasol
White lime-plaster wings, clay-tile roofs and an arcaded courtyard with a fountain — a Montecito estate for a half-acre lot.
The house
Mirasol follows the planning of the great Santa Barbara houses of the 1920s: three white wings around a court, rooms one room deep so every space has light from two sides, and deep walls that keep the interiors cool. It is built with today's means — wood frame, steel-look windows, all-electric systems, PV on the west wing roof — and engineered for California seismic design.
- Arcaded courtyard
- Entry tower
- Beamed living room
- Kitchen & family room
- Primary wing

Code basis · California
This plan was drawn to:
- 2025 California Residential Code (Title 24 Part 2.5)
- 2025 California Energy Code (Title 24 Part 6)
- 2025 CALGreen (Part 11)
- 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface Code (Part 7) — tile roof and plaster suit WUI
California enforces the California Residential Code statewide, together with Title 24 Part 6 energy standards. Seismic design category and Wildland-Urban Interface rules depend on the site. Energy compliance and structural calculations are prepared for your lot.
Before you build. Halden plans are design documents. Depending on where you build, your jurisdiction may require structural design, energy compliance, a site plan, or a seal from a design professional or engineer licensed in your state. A local professional should review and adapt the set to your lot, soils and adopted code. We don't guarantee compliance with local zoning, covenants or setbacks.
